- Immediate access to hot water
- We only have 30 amps that are usable before we blow a breaker, we turn the water heater off when the air conditioner is being used. We learned very early on that if the air conditioner, water heater, and microwave were running at the same time we exceeded 30 amps. This means that in order to take a shower or wash dishes, we have to turn the water heater on and give it half an hour, before beginning.
- A dishwasher
- Aside from cleaning toilets, dishes are pretty high on my cleaning hate list.
- A normal sized oven
- I love to bake, but making 4 muffins or 6 cookies at a time is going to make my holiday baking very tedious. It took 3 rounds of baking to make 12 scones.
- Counter space
- The prime real estate of any kitchen is counter space. We have one very small folding counter space. That area is usually taken up by the fruit and vegetables that are not refrigerated. In our previous houses and apartments, I was terrible about cluttering up counter spaces with small appliances, groceries that I didn't feel like putting away, mail, and anything else I dropped on it throughout the day.
- The ability to move around my living space without having to ask people to move
- The girls know that when I start working in the kitchen, they have to stay in their bunk or on the dining table benches. If J and I need to move past one another, we either squeeze through or one of us moves into an alcove to allow the other to pass. There are plans to upgrade to a larger RV, if we decide to do this for an extended period of time. One with a slide will reduce this problem.
- Any bathroom that has more space than ours
- There is enough space to stand in our bathroom and that's it. You can step in far enough to close the door. There is no space to put clothing while showering, except in the sink or on top of the toilet lid. There is no counter to lay out beauty products or even set down the hair dryer while you style your hair.
Most of these issues revolve around the kitchen. I think that's the area that has required the most adaptation.
